There are many wonderful things to celebrate in Durham, from its world-class medical facilities to its wonderful annual festivals and events. Durham is also home to Research Triangle Park, Duke University, and North Carolina Central University. But Durham is also home to The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) - the first public, residential science and math high school in the United States. And from December 12-13, Durham residents and visitors from neighboring towns had one more thing to celebrate – a special visit by ASIMO to NCSSM!
On December 12, 1,070 elementary and middle school students and teachers from the Raleigh-Durham area, as well as NCSSM students and faculty, attended ASIMO demonstrations on campus. During the demonstrations, students on the ground floor and the balcony cheered for their classmates on stage as they wowed the audience with their dancing and balancing skills. Later that evening, Honda Power Equipment employees and their families drove from Swepsonville to attend a special demonstration. On Saturday, 1,100 local adults and children who had heard or read about ASIMO's appearance headed to NCSSM to catch an ASIMO demonstration. In just two days, 2,345 people witnessed a real-life humanoid robot with their own eyes.
Don’t miss your chance to bring your family and friends to an exciting ASIMO demonstration. Please check the tour schedule often to see the latest venue and tour information.
