ASIMO, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot, visited the Boilermakers of Purdue University March 10-12, 2005 to help them kick off their Spring Break vacation. Although the weather in West Lafayette, Indiana wasn't warm and sunny, ASIMO heated things up for the audience Hawaiian style with a little hula dance. The audience also saw ASIMO walk forward and backward, kick a soccer ball and climb and descend a set of stairs.
ASIMO demonstrated these and other capabilities to 4,937 people over the course of the three-day event, filling Loeb Playhouse to capacity for every show. In fact, an additional show was added on the final day of the event to accommodate the crowd that stretched down the halls of the Stewart Center and out the doors to the student union.
After the last demonstration at Purdue, it was time for ASIMO to head for greener pastures – in California of course. Don’t miss ASIMO at California State University, Sacramento, the next and final stop on the ASIMO Technology Circuit.
